People who volunteer to participate in clinical trials play an integral role to advancing medical knowledge and treatments. Their valuable contribution demands that we as researchers commit to ensuring that the research is conducted in accordance with the highest ethical standards. In this course, Dr. Paul Martin examines the seven requirements for ethical clinical research, describes the consent process and best practices, and explains how the level of uncertainty regarding outcomes changes from early to late phases of clinical trial.
